Stand out from the crowd by dressing as the iconic Waldo character from the illustrated Where's Waldo children's books. Depending on what's in your closet, you may be able to throw the outfit together with clothing you already own, plus a few simple accessories.

The Basic Outfit
Regular blue jeans and nondescript brown shoes or boots round out the lower half of your Waldo outfit. For the top half, put on a long-sleeved white-and-red T-shirt with horizontal stripes. Waldo's hat is a basic white and red knit winter hat with a red pompom. A walking cane with a curved handle serves as an optional Waldo accessory.

Plastic tablecloth or newspaper
Red fabric paint

If unable to find a Waldo-style shirt and hat, make your own from a white long-sleeved T-shirt and a white knit cap with a pompom.
- Cut pieces of cardboard to fit inside the shirt and sleeves, as well as the hat, to prevent paint from seeping through. Set the shirt atop a plastic tablecloth or old newspaper.
- Paint horizontal stripes on the shirt with red fabric paint, using painter's tape to block off the white areas.
- Fold over the bottom edge of the hat so it looks like Waldo's hat. Paint the bottom edge with red fabric paint. Paint the pompom with red fabric paint as well, or add your own red pompom to a hat that doesn't have one by stitching it in place.

Waldo's Glasses
Scrounge up a pair of inexpensive round black eyeglasses. Plastic novelty glasses from a toy store or dollar store are ideal. Even sunglasses will do. Just pop out the lenses by holding the frame in one hand and pressing each lens out from the inside. If you prefer to make your own Waldo glasses from cardboard or card stock, draw the glasses or print out a template to trace and cut out. Glue the "arms" of the glasses onto the frame with school glue. Paint the card stock with black acrylic paint, or color it in with a permanent marker.
