How to Write a Letter to a Senator Asking for Help
Senators have a duty to maintain contact with constituents in the state they represent. You can contact your senator to voice any concerns about political or any other kind of issues in your state. You can also write your senator requesting help resolving an issue with a federal agency or other personal assistance.

Locate the contact information for your senator. Go to the U.S. Senate Web site. Select your state from the drop-down menu at the top right corner labeled "Find Your Senators." This will list the two senators from your state and links to their official websites.

Go to your senator's Web site. It will provide a contact form for e-mailing your senator and the mailing address if you would like to mail your letter. Usually, the contact information is listed in the "Contact" or "Constituent Services" sections.

Provide specific details about your issue and why you need the senator's help. Include your contact information in your letter. Your senator may respond to you by e-mail or written correspondence.

Tips & Warnings
In any correspondence you send to your senator address them as "The Honorable (Name)."
Only send correspondence to the senators from your state. Many senators will not respond to a letter from another senator's constituent.
