How to Get the Energy Sword Prop in "Halo III"

Master Chief gets few chances to use an Energy Sword in the campaign of "Halo 3."

There are several ways for your character to get his mitts on a Covenant Energy Sword in "Halo 3." Energy Swords are short-range weapons used primarily by the honorable Elite soldiers who fight alongside their alien brothers in the Covenant. When wielded by someone who knows how to use the Energy Sword, it becomes a deadly extension of the player. Once you locate one of these glowing melee weapons, your enemies will be lucky to escape the battle without being slashed to bits.

Instructions

1. Take an Energy Sword from a fallen Elite in the campaign mode of "Halo 3." In several levels of the story mode, a small group of Elites will fight alongside Master Chief and the Arbiter. If one of your alien allies dies in combat, he may drop an Energy Sword.

2. Study the multiplayer maps by starting a match alone. Explore and memorize the weapon layout of the maps so you can make a beeline to the coveted sword before your opponents when you play a real match. For example, in the Forerunner-themed level Construct, an Energy Sword is sitting on the south end of the top floor.

3. Place Energy Swords anywhere you want in any of the multiplayer levels by using the Forge mode. Forge allows you to set and remove weapons, scenery and items as you desire to make multiplayer more entertaining. Pick the Energy Sword from the "Weapons" sub-menu and place swords on the map by pressing the "A" button while playing as the Forge editor.

Tips & Warnings

• The Energy Sword kills opponents with a single hit. Line up the target receptacle over an enemy and press either the right trigger or the "B" button for an instant kill.

• Only high-ranking Elite warriors use Energy Swords in battle.
