How Do I Retrieve Deletes From My Favorites Selection? thumbnail
You can often retrieve files deleted from your computer's hard drive.

Whether through intent or by accident, deleted computer files are not necessarily gone for good. When deleted, any file that was stored on your computer's hard drive is "saved" to the "Recycle Bin." Designed specifically as a safety net, this function gives you the opportunity to recover any deleted files before they become permanently erased. You can usually retrieve deleted files, including those from your favorites selection, with a few clicks of your mouse.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the "Recycle Bin" icon located on your desktop. Click on the recycle bin icon twice with your left mouse button.

    • 2

Look though the files in the recycle bin folder. Click on the files your wish to retrieve with the right mouse button.

    • 3

Move your cursor down along the drop-down menu with your mouse. Left-click once on "Restore." This will send the deleted file back to file's original position on the favorites selection menu. Close out of the recycle bin.

Tips & Warnings

  • If there is not a recycle bin icon on your desktop you can access the recycle bin though your computer's start menu.

  • While favorite files are stored on the computer's hard drive, backup or secondary files stored on removal media, such as a flash drive, are not saved to the recycle bin. Files deleted from removal media are usually not recoverable - without specially designed software.
