How to Make a Slytherin Costume
J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" series chronicles the story of several children attending the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The students in the school are divided into four houses, one of them being Slytherin. Creating a Slytherin school uniform is fairly easy because the costume can be made with found materials needing little modification. Only the distinctive robe and necktie need to be customized.

1
Obtain a black graduation robe that fits you well. It should extend from your neck to mid-thigh or ankle, with sleeves that do not obscure your hands.
-
2
Line the inside of the robe with dark green fabric, held in place either with stitches or fabric glue.
This fabric does not need to completely fill the robe. You just need to have several inches at the wrists and several inches on both sides of the front opening lines, no one will be able to tell that you did not line the entire robe.

-
3
Sew or glue a Slytherin patch onto the breast of the robe. These patches are available online and at stores selling Harry Potter merchandise.
-
4
Lay a green necktie on a table, then cut thin pieces of white tape. Press the tape onto the tie to create diagonal white stripes positioned every inch. Alternate double and single stripes.
If you can find a tie that already has green stripes, you do not have to modify it.
-
5
Put on a pair of black dress pants, black dress shoes, a white button-up dress shirt and the tie.
-
6
Put the robe on over the other clothes.
-
7
Carry a toy magic wand as a prop. Most Slytherins are portrayed as arrogant and pretentious, so affecting these mannerisms will help to complete your costume.
