How to Make a Video With Scrolling Words
Scrolling titles are far and away the most popular form of end titles in Hollywood movies. Many amateur, student, and home video makers seek to emulate this technique with scrolling titles of their own. Because of this popularity, every major video-editing software program has a function for scrolling titles, though the methods are somewhat different for each program.

1
Open your PC-based Sony Vegas project, select the track to which you wish to add scrolling credits and right click. Select "Add Generated Media" and then "Credit Roll." Within the credit-roll tool you will be able to customize speed of credits, font, format and spacing. The default setting is white on black credits, but you can alter these color settings as well, though make sure your credits are legible.

2
Open your PC-based Adobe Premiere project, select "Title" from the top menu and then "New Title." Select "Default Roll." Once you choose a name for your title, such as "End Credits," you will enter the title tool where you are offered a great deal of title customization, including font size, effects and spacing. Unlike Sony Vegas, you can copy and paste your titles as a whole from a .txt file.

Open your Mac-based Final Cut Pro project, select the small "A" button under the Viewer, choose "Text" and then choose "Scrolling Text." In the Viewer, go to Controls and enter the content of your credits in the main box. Here you can customize the font, size, color and speed of the credits. You can also copy and paste your credit list in its entirety from a .txt file.

Tips & Warnings
Keep your titles short. Your credits should not distract from your movie.
Most editing programs will not spell-check your credits. If you are used to your word processor flagging misspellings automatically, force yourself to double-check your credits. Nothing hurts feelings like a misspelled name.
