The best way to protect your purchased iTunes content is to regularly back it up as often as possible. However, if your computer's hard drive has failed, you may still be able to recover your iTunes content. If the content is purchased apps, you can redownload them at your convenience directly from the iTunes store at no charge. To redownload other content such as movies and songs, you must first contact iTunes customer service and explain why you need a redownload of all of your content before you are allowed to do so.

Instructions

      Launch iTunes on your computer and then click "iTunes Store" under "Store" in the left column of the window.

      Type the name of the app you want to redownload into the search bar at the top-right corner of the window.

      Click the "Buy App" button next to the app in the results list.

      Click the "Buy" button on the pop-up dialog box.

      Click "OK" on the second dialog window, to confirm you want to download the app. The dialog window states that you can download the app for free because you have already purchased it. The app is downloaded to iTunes.

    All Other Content

      Launch a Web browser and then go to the iTunes Store Customer Service page.

      Fill out the fields in the online form. For example, enter your name, Apple ID and e-mail address in the appropriate fields.

      Type the reason you want to re-download your iTunes content in the "Details About the Issue" box.

      Type "Send" to submit your request to redownload your purchased iTunes content. The customer service department will respond within 24 hours.
