How to Change Member Nicknames in Google Groups

Google Gmail is more than just an email service. The application allows you to create groups for your contacts so you can keep your address book organized. You can edit the contact information of members in any of your Google groups. If one of your contact's has an alias, you can apply the name to the person's contact details. Change a member's nickname to keep the contact's information accurate.

Instructions

      Navigate to your Gmail inbox. Click the "Contacts" link in the left panel. A list of your Gmail contacts loads to the main section of the window.

      Click a group from the "My Contacts" heading in the left panel. A list of the group's members loads.

      Click a member's name. A new page opens displaying the contact information for the member you select.

      Click the "Nickname" field under the member's formal name at the top of the page. If you don't see the "Nickname" field, click the "Add" button, and then click "Nickname" from the drop-down menu that appears.

      Enter a new nickname for the contact in the "Nickname" field.

      Click the "Save" button to save the change.
