How to Replace an Australian Passport
Australian passports are granted to: Australian-born citizens, migrants with permanent residence, spouses or partners of an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizens who live in Australia, children of former Australian citizens, refugees, children born overseas to Australian citizens and adopted children of Australian citizens. Adult passports are valid for 10 years, and child and senior passports are valid for five years and typically incur reduced processing fees. If your passport has been lost, stolen or misplaced, you need to follow specific guidelines to obtain a replacement.

3
Click "Apply for a Passport." Provide answers to questions that ask if you're an Australian citizen, if you are currently in Australia, if you wish to renew your passport (answer "no"), and if the application is for an adult or child. Click "Next."

4
Review the application form guidelines and click the "Accept" circle at the bottom of the page.
-
5
Enter the required passport application information, which includes personal details, name changes, security question, the kind of passport you want, contact details, information on your previous passport, whether your passport is lost or stolen and proof of identity.
-
6
Attend a passport application interview. The interviewer reviews your application for completeness and to ensure that all original supporting documents have been received. He will ask you questions related to the application and may request other documents to support your application. Take your completed application form, two color photos and an original document proving you are an Australian citizen to the interview. You will also need documents that verify your identity, such as a driver's license. Pay the current application fee for your new passport, which will include an additional fee for your lost or stolen passport.
