How to Turn Off Excel Sound

Microsoft Office incorporates a feature that produces sound effects when you perform certain actions within Microsoft Office programs such as scrolling or clicking on toolbars. If you are unhappy with these sounds, you can disable them in Excel using the Advanced Options menu. Turning sounds off in Excel is a simple process and you can just as easily re-enable the sounds if you change your mind. Turning off the sound options in Excel also turns off sound options in all other Office programs.

Instructions

1. Double-click on the Microsoft Excel icon on your desktop to launch the program or click on "Start," select "All Programs," hover over "Microsoft Office" and click on "Microsoft Excel."

2. Click the "Office" button in the upper left corner of the program and then scroll down and click on "Excel Options" in the bottom right corner of the menu. A new window will appear.

3. Click on "Advanced" along the left side of the window.

4. Scroll down to the "General" section and un-check "Provide feedback with sound."

5. Click "OK" to save your changes.

Tips & Warnings

• This removes sound options for all Office programs.

• Re-check "Provide feedback with sound" in the Microsoft Excel Advanced Options window to re-enable sounds in Excel and other Office programs.
