How to Send Something to Facebook Via Text

How to Send Something to Facebook Via Text thumbnail
You can update your Facebook status via text message with Facebook Mobile.

Most Facebook users access their accounts on Internet-connected computers, from which they post status updates, upload content and interact with other Facebook users. However, you can also access the site on your mobile phone. Facebook has created a mobile browser-friendly version of the site where you can post updates, send private messages and read the posts on your newsfeed. If your phone doesn't have an Internet data plan, you can still register your phone with your Facebook account, then post status updates via text messages.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Facebook account on your computer and click "Account" in the upper-right corner of the screen. A drop-down menu appears.

    • 2

Click "Account Settings" in the drop-down menu.

    • 3

Click the "Mobile" tab in the menu across the top of your Account Settings dashboard.

    • 4

Click the "Register for Facebook Text Messages" link in the "Mobile Phones" section at the top of the page. A pop-up dialog box appears prompting you to enter details about your mobile service provider.

    • 5

Select your country of origin and your mobile service provider from their respective drop-down menus; then click the blue "Next" button.

    • 6

Text the code Facebook provides you to its mobile number, which is "32665" without the quotes at the time of publication. Facebook replies with a text message to your phone that contains a confirmation code.

    • 7

Type the confirmation code from your text message into the appropriate field in the pop-up box and click the blue "Next" button. This confirms your phone number for Facebook's mobile services features.

    • 8

Send a text message to "32665" without the quotes. The contents of the text message appear as a status update on your Facebook page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add Facebook's text number to your phone's address book to send your text updates more quickly.

  • Facebook doesn't charge you for text messages you send to your account, but if your mobile service plan doesn't include unlimited text messages, your mobile service provider may charge fees for, or impose limits on, any text messages you send.
