How to Get Speech On in an iMac
Speech-recognition software used to be such a futuristic concept that it appeared only in the movies. Little by little however, technology caught up, and expensive computer rigs adapted basic voice command capabilities. The software now comes standard on some computers, such as the Apple iMac. With the right configuration, one can order the iMac to execute several commands by talking to it.

Open "System Preferences."

Open "Speech" under "System."

Click on "Speech Recognition" and click the "On" button next to "Speakable Items."

Exit "System Preferences."

Tips & Warnings
Talk to your system administrator if the "Speech Recognition" pane is empty. The administrator may have limited your software choices, and can add this for you.
