How to Create Your Own Wand
A wand can be used in certain pagan rituals or as a fun toy for imaginative play. A wand can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish. Look up runes to engrave into the wand, or engrave a favorite saying onto the wand. If the wand is for a child, let the child decide on the embellishments. You can cover the wand in glitter, add cute beads or even a favorite animal shape. Let your creativity flow and make the wand you or your child has always wanted.

1
Smooth the wand by using the sandpaper to remove the bark from an 8- to 12-inch stick and make the stick even. Use single strokes with the sandpaper until the wand is the thickness you desire.
-
2
Burn the wood with the wood burning tool. Decide what symbols, words or images you want on your wand. Draw the image with a pencil on the wood. Use the wood burner according to manufacturer's directions, using gentle strokes to burn the image into the wood. Go slowly to maintain the same thickness of lines over the entire image. You may have to go over the image more than once to get the image to the depth on the wood that you desire. You can also leave the wand plain without embellishment.
