How to Create Animations in "World of Warcraft"

"World of Warcraft" includes many animations that your character can display as part of the social and role-playing experience. These animations are most commonly known as "Emotes." Using these emotes is a great way to bring life to your character. Different races also have different emotes and animations, the most notable being the "dance" emotes.

Instructions

    • 1

Start up the game and log into your account. Load your character.

    • 2

Press the "/" (forward slash) key on your keyboard and type in the name of the emote, without the space. For example, type "/dance" to make your character do the dance animation.

    • 3

Find a list of emotes with animations on WoWWiki and many other websites. Alternatively, to find a specific emote, click on the chat-bubble icon beside the chat box in the bottom-left corner of the screen and navigate to "emotes". Here you will be able to see a list of available emotes.

    • 4

Place macros for most commonly used animated emotes onto one of your action bars. To do this, create a new macro, choose an icon and name the macro and type "/" followed by the emote name into the text box at the bottom. The macro will be automatically saved and you can drag the button onto the action bar.

Make a custom emote by typing "/me" followed by a space and the text of your choice. This will be accompanied by a default 'chat' animation. Note that characters from the opposing faction will not be able to understand custom emotes. Instead, they will only see "{Player} makes some strange gestures."

Tips & Warnings

  • There are many emotes, although only a selection of them are accompanied by animations. These animations differ depending on the race of your character.
