How to Play a PS2 ISO on an Emulator

Iso files are direct copies of the disk from which they were made. For instance, when you make a backup copy of a PlayStation 2 games, an iso file is created. The PS2 iso file can be used to play the PS2 game on your computer if you are running a PS2 emulator. The PCSX2 is the only emulator still being developed.

Things You'll Need

  • Virtual drive program
  • Install a virtual disk manager program. Recommended ones are Daemon Tools, MagicISO and Clonedrive.

  • Open the virtual drive program and click its small icon in the Windows 7 system tray. Click "Add Virtual Drive" and select the PS2 iso file from the window that comes up. Click "OK."

  • Open PCSX2 and click the "System" option at the top of the main PCSX2 window. Click "Boot CDVD" and the PCSX2 will search the disk drives for PS2 games. It will also search the virtual drives. The PS2 iso is now loaded.

  • Click the "System" and "Exit" option to exit out of PCSX2 when finished playing the PS2 emulator.
