How to Become an eBay Agent

A seller on the online auction site, eBay, is known as an eBay agent. Whether you want to sell a few of your old things or start your own business, anyone over the age of 18 is eligible to become an eBay agent. Once set up, you have the option of creating auction, setting a "Buy It Now" price and setting up your own eBay store or a combination. The process can take several days, as you will need to verify your e-mail address and at least one bank account, but is not difficult. You will also need to determine how you will be paid and how you will pay fees before you can get started.

      Register for a seller account on the eBay website. You will need a valid e-mail address. A confirmation will be set to your e-mail, and you must click the link to verify you own the account.

      Add a credit or debit card to your eBay account to verify your identity. Be sure that the address you use for your account matches the address you use for your credit or debit card.

      Select the method you will use to pay your to pay your seller fees. Your options are PayPal, a credit card, a direct payment from your checking account or a check, if you are a business.

      Select which forms of payment you will accept from buyers. These may include PayPal, ProPay, Moneybookers, Paymate, merchant credit card or payment upon pickup.

      List your items on eBay. You will need to set a starting bid price, a reserve price, which is a price below which you will not sell the item, and an optional "Buy It Now" price. Take at least one quality photo of the item so that buyers can clearly see what they are bidding on. Fill in the description, be sure to include all relevant details, such as the condition of the item and whether it includes accessories, manuals and original packaging.
