How to Get a Doctorate in Psychiatry
Receiving your doctorate degree in psychiatry takes many years and lots of hard work. Students should develop strong science knowledge in high school and then study psychology during their undergraduate study. Psychiatrists also must attend medical school because, unlike psychologists, psychiatrists can prescribe medication. Medical schools are very competitive so it essential for the potential psychiatrist to achieve exceptional grades while in college. Many board-certified psychiatrists choose to work in hospitals, open their own private practice or conduct research.
