The Fibonacci spiral is a visual representation of a series of numbers known as the Fibonacci sequence. The Fibonacci sequence is a series of integers whose value is equal to the sum of the two integers that precedes it. The Fibonacci spiral is known for its aesthetic qualities as well as its occurrence in nature. For example, the face of a sunflower possesses an organization of features which align themselves in a Fibonacci spiral.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw several squares with sides that are equal to the values of the Fibonacci numbers starting at one. Draw the squares so that the side of each subsequent square is adjacent and equal to the lengths of the previous two squares.

    • 2

Create a curve that connects the opposing corners of the final and largest square. The concave side of this curve should face inward toward the smaller initial squares of the series.

    • 3

Continue the curve moving through the subsequent squares' opposing corners. The curve will create a spiral that terminates at the innermost square whose sides are equal to one.
