How to Tie Tassels to a Banner Cord
Banner cords are typically formal or fancy in appearance. Metallic colors and silky fabrics are used for the cord. A tassel at the end of the cord makes a banner even more impressive for special events, such as military ceremonies or church and other special events. Most cords do not come with tassels attached, but it is a straightforward process to attach a tassel to the end of a banner cord. Match the tassel color to the banner cord, or use a contrasting color to make the tassel stand out.

1
Tie a knot into the bottom of the banner cord about 1/2 an inch away from the end. Make the knot as small or as large as you like. Place the cord on a flat surface.
-
2
Cut a strip of fringe about 10 to 15 times wider than the cord. Wrap the top of the fringe just below the knot on the cord with the fringed ends flipped up toward the top of the banner cord on the table.

3
Tie a strand of embroidery thread around the circumference of the fringe just below the knot. Tie the thread into a square knot, placing the right end over the left, then the left end over the right and pull tight. Flip the cord right side up so that the fringe pieces hang below the cord. Straighten out any tangled fringe pieces.
-
4
Tie some embroidery cord about 1/2 inch to 1 inch below the top of the fringe to complete the tassel. Tie a knot in the thread and allow the ends of the thread to hang down inside the tassel.
