Facebook allows you to customize the information that is displayed on your profile.

Facebook provides privacy control features that allow members to hide certain information on their profile, such as basic information. The "Basic Information" section of your profile includes a variety of details, including the city you reside, your hometown, your gender and a brief personal description. Depending on the information you want to customize, you may have the option to hide specific details from everyone or hide the information from people who are not on your "friends" list.

      Log in to your Facebook account.

      Click the "Profile" tab, and then click the "Info" option on the left side of the page.

      Scroll to the "Basic Information" section at the bottom of the page and click the "Edit" link. You will have the option to edit your current location, hometown, gender, birthday, relationship interests and personal description.

      Check the "X" option next to "Current City" and "Hometown" to delete the displayed information. As of May 2011, you cannot hide this information and must delete it to prohibit friends from viewing your location and hometown information on your profile.

      Remove the check next to the "Show my sex in my profile" box if you don't want to display your gender.

      Click the "Birthday" drop-down menu and select the "Don't show my birthday in my profile" option, if you don't want people to view your birthdate on your profile.

      Remove the check mark next to "Women" or "Men" to disable your relationship interests.

      Delete your description in the "About Me" text box if you don't want anyone to view the contents in your "About Me" profile. By deleting the content in your "About Me" section will, no one will be able to view the personal description.

      Click the "Save Changes" button to apply your new settings.
