How to Check My Food Stamp Status in New Jersey

New Jersey's food stamp program is called "Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program," or SNAP for short. Residents of New Jersey that meet certain income eligibility requirements can receive food stamps on a regular basis to help provide groceries for the household. Many families, however, may be on the income eligibility borderline. It may not be clear whether their application will be approved or denied. Families may wish to check on the status of their application if they do not hear back from the county welfare agency in a timely manner.

Visit New Jersey's OneApp website and click on the link that reads "Status." Enter your application number and your date of birth. Call your county welfare agency and request to speak with a case manager. Give the case manager your application number and your birth date so that he can look up your status online from his computer. This option is available for individuals who do not have access to an Internet service.

Visit the county welfare agency where you applied if you happen to be in the neighborhood. You may have to take a number and wait in line to speak with a case manager, but you will be able to personally inquire about the status of your application at the welfare agency itself.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Applications are usually reviewed within 30 days. After the 30 days is up, it is a good idea to inquire about the status of your application.
