How to Type Hugs
A keyboard is not just for typing information into a computer anymore--it is also a social interaction tool. Thanks to prolific use of the Internet and cell phones, creating texts and sending messages is more popular than ever, especially among teenagers. Some words are shortened by those who text, making it faster to complete communications, while other words are represented by symbols, or "emoticons" (blending the words "emotions" and "icons") instead of being spelled out. Giving a Hug by Typing

Getting a hug. Type ( ) to indicate that you wish to give someone a hug, placing a space between the parentheses. Add another set of parentheses for emphasis, meaning big hug (( )) with two spaces between parentheses or ((( ))) with three spaces between parentheses for a really big hug.

Input two brackets, such as { } to give a hug. Place a single space between brackets and consider typing the word hug between the brackets in lowercase type, if desired.

Hugs and kisses. Enter the letters "xxoo" or "xoxo" to tell someone "hugs and kisses." Send them an "xx" for hugs only.

Give someone a virtual hug by typing, in uppercase letters, "HAK," which means "hugs and kisses" or consider the alternate "HK."
