Instructions

    • 1

Spray the surface of the metal and plastic pieces of computer equipment with WD-40 brand of car-part lubricant. This substance is designed to cut through grease and other compounds. It breaks down and dissolves the waxy buildup of crayon.

    • 2

Wipe the surface clean with a soft cloth. Test the cloth to make sure that it does not leave lint on the equipment surfaces. The crayon marks should come away without much pressure. Check the surfaces for any residue left over by the lubricant.

    • 3

Mix together hot water and liquid dish soap in a container. Dip a sponge in the soapy water, drain the excess water out of the sponge and wipe off any residue from the computer equipment surface. Move the sponge in a circular motion to loosen the residue.

    • 4

Rinse out the sponge and wipe the equipment down using clear water. Keep the sponge barely wet so no water drips inside the equipment. Dry off the equipment with a clean towel.

    • 5

Use a cleaning eraser to erase crayon marks off the computer monitor. Polish the monitor and screen with the eraser. The marks should come off easily. Do not press down on the screen, because pressure can damage the monitor screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • When using spray cleaner, always spray the cloth used to clean with. Never spray anything directly on or around the computer monitor.

  • Do not use pressure when cleaning delicate equipment like computer monitor screens. Use gentle strokes to remove the crayon marks.
