How to Multiply Pokemon in "Pokemon Emerald"

"Pokemon Emerald" is a video game for the Gameboy Advance released in 2005 as an enhanced remake of "Pokemon Ruby" and "Pokemon Sapphire." Unlike the other Pokemon games, "Pokemon Emerald" allows the player to multiply or clone his Pokemon character. The reason players multiply Pokemons is because when you transfer a Pokemon character from "Pokemon Emerald" to another Pokemon game -- e.g., "Pokemon Diamond," "Pokemon Pearl," "Pokemon Platinum" -- you can't transfer it back. So with the clone glitch, you can make extra copies to transfer over to as many other games as you'd like, all while still maintaining your original "Pokemon Emerald" Pokemon.

Instructions

    • 1

Fly to the Battle Frontier and enter the Battle Tower.

    • 2

Click on one of the PCs next to the registration desk.

    • 3

Click on the Pokemon you'd like to duplicate and drag it into the PC box. This will be the "Clone Box."

    • 4

Log off the PC, save your game, and then click on the PC to drag the Pokemon from the "Clone Box" back into your party.

    • 5

Go the counter closet to the PC and speak to the clerk. Select an action and difficulty level (it doesn't matter which ones you choose), pick two Pokemon to battle, and then wait for the game to pause and ask you whether you'd like to save it.

    • 6

Immediately turn your GBA off, wait 10 seconds, and then power it back on. Then start the game the way you did before.

    • 7

Return to the PC and look in the "Clone Box." The Pokemon you deposited and withdrew from the box earlier has now been cloned. Retrieve it and add it to your party. It will have the exact same stats and equipment as the original Pokemon.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid trading cloned Pokemon on the Global Trade Network (GTS) because you may be caught and subsequently have your ability to trade on the GTS suspended.
