How to Get Rid of "This May Be a Pirated Version" in Nero
Nero is a CD/DVD-burning, editing and backup software platform. There are several versions of Nero available, including some that may not be authentic. If you receive an alert that reads, "This May Be a Pirated Version," there is a strong possibility that the Nero software you're using has been hacked for fully functional access and is corrupt. When this error appears, the best thing to do is remove the Nero software altogether, to ensure that your computer is not at risk for any viruses. You can remove Nero software using the Nero CleanTool.

Access the Nero Support site (see Resources). Under "Nero 7 CleanTool," click "More Details and Download." Directly below Step 2, click "Download."

Save the Nero CleanTool software removal package to your computer. The file will be formatted as a .ZIP file.

Locate and click on the Nero CleanTool .ZIP from the location where it is stored on your computer. Once the .ZIP file is extracted, there will be several subfiles within the compressed folder.

Double-click the executable (.EXE) file. This action will initiate the Nero General CleanTool application. The application should also generate the version of Nero you currently have installed on the computer.

Check all of the boxes displayed for your version of the Nero software. This ensures that all of the Nero software and its components and entries will be removed thoroughly and properly.

Click "Clean" below all of the checked Nero software, component and entry boxes. Allow several minutes for the software removal tool to complete the process.

Click "Exit" once the Nero CleanTool has completed the removal.

Shut down and reboot the computer. Nero will no longer be installed on the computer.

Tips & Warnings
Downloading Nero from a site other than the official Nero site can trigger this error message. Make sure you obtain Nero software only from the Nero website.
