How to Make Thick-Thread Bracelets
Thick-thread can refer to any type of thick, flexible rope, such as yarn, wool, paracord and string. Thick-threads can be braided, knotted or woven to create a pretty pattern and transform the threads into a stylish bracelet. The colors of thick-threads can be selected to reflect your personal style and individuality; thick-thread bracelets also make great gifts. All the materials required to create the bracelet are available to purchase from craft stores or online retailers.

Bradiing
-
1
Measure the circumference of your wrist. Cut three equal lengths of thread. Line the threads up, so that they all start at the same point.
-
2
Tie a single knot over the top of the three threads. Open the safety pin, insert it through the loop in the knot, and pin the thick-threads onto the cushion. Place the cushion on your lap.

3
Spread the thread out, so that one is positioned on the left, one on the right and one is in the middle. Pick up the thread on the right-hand side and lift it over the middle thread. Lift the left-hand thread over the thread that is now in the middle. Pull each strand tightly after each movement to create a neat and even braid. Repeat this technique until the desired length of bracelet is braided.
-
4
Tie the end of the bracelet in a single knot. Leave some thread loose to tie it to the other end. Remove the safety pin. Trim off any excess thread with the scissors.

5
Measure the circumference of your wrist. Cut four equal lengths of thick-thread that are each six times larger than the circumference of your wrist. Arrange the threads so that they all start at the same spot.
-
6
Tie a single knot approximately 1-inch below the top of the thread. Insert the safety pin through the knot, and attach the threads to the cushion. Place the cushion on your lap.
-
7
Arrange the threads so that they are lying vertically next to one another. For this tutorial, the thread on the left-hand side will be called strand 1, the thread to the right of that strand 2, the thread to the right of that strand 3, and the thread on the right-hand side strand 4.

8
Pick up strand 1 and use it to tie a double knot around strand 2. Repeat this process with strands 3 and 4. Pick up strand 2 and tie it in a double knot around strands 3, 4 and 1. Pick up strand 3 and tie it in a double knot around strands 4, 1 and 2. Pick up strand 4 and tie it in a double knot around strands 1, 2 and 3. Repeat this technique until the desired length of bracelet is knotted.

Tie the ends in a single knot. Trim off any excess thread with the scissors. Remove the safety pin from the top of the bracelet.

Tips & Warnings
Add pony beads to the end of your bracelet to create a more professional finish.
A pile of heavy books will also temporarily hold the braid in place, instead of the safety pin and cushion.
Scissors should only be used under the supervision of responsible adults.
