How to Put in Latch Back Earrings thumbnail
Latchback earrings are more secure than other earring styles.

Earrings dangling from your ears add enchanting color and sparkle as you move your head. When you opt for dangle earrings hanging from your earlobes, you have several findings, or backings, from which to choose. One of the most secure earring findings, the latchback or leverback findings have a movable component at the back. This latch enables you to open and close it around your earlobe so the earrings will not fall from your ears. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the latchback earring with your fingers, grasping the finding from the front with one hand and the back with the other hand.

    • 2

Move the latch at the back of the earrings to the open position. The latchback earring has a hinge at the bottom; simply move the metal back of the earring open by moving the hinged piece.

    • 3

Insert the top curved edge of the earring into your earlobe piercing. The curved upper edge of the earring will sit in the earlobe.

    • 4

Close the back of the latchback earring by moving the hinged piece back up to meet the curved edge. This will attach the earring securely in your earlobe.
