A clogged detergent drawer may cause issues with dispensing.

Many washing machines have a detergent dispensing drawer. During the correct cycle, the drawer will dispense the detergent you poured in. Over time, the drawer, if not removed and cleaned, will develop mold and soap scum. This scum clogs the drawer, causing fabric softener and detergent to spray everywhere. Regular cleaning of the drawer will prevent the dispenser from clogging. Most washer drawers are cleaned in the same manner, but look in your instruction manual for your model specifics.
