How to Organize Photos in Aperture Projects or Albums

Aperture is a powerful image-editing software for Mac computers. Once your photos are imported into Aperture, you can organize them in a variety of ways. Organizing photos enables you to find them easier when you want to use them. A well-organized photo album is simpler to export to disk for friends or clients. Like most Mac related applications, organizing photos in Aperture is relatively easy.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Aperture and look at the left hand side of the window. All of your imported projects are automatically organized by "Project" by the time you shoot them.

    • 2

Select "New Folder" from the "File" menu. A new folder will appear in the window. Name the folder and move any projects that you want inside the folder. You can organize your projects by trip or any other common theme. You can also create albums by selecting "New Album" from the file menu and placing any photos from any project inside of it.

    • 3

Open the "Project" files. Select "New Album." An album will open in that project file. Add any photos from the project into the album. Select "New Folder" from the File menu and a new folder will open in that project. Place any albums into the folder that you want to organize. You can organize the photos in albums by type, such as person, landscape or animal. You can also organize albums into folders by favorites, or where they were photographed.
