How to Prevent Google Analytics From Picking Up Your Traffic

You can prevent the Google Analytics tracking software from recording your website data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out browser extension. The extension stores a persistent cookie in your browser that tells the Google Analytics software to not record your traffic to a website that uses Google Analytics to track visitor information. It is available for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome Web browsers.

Instructions

  1. Internet Explorer

      Click "Start," type "Internet Explorer" in the search box at the bottom of the menu, then press "Enter."

      Navigate to tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

      Click "Get Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on."

      Click "Accept and Install." Enter your Windows password to authorize installation of the add-on.

      Click "Restart Browser Now" to complete installation. Your traffic will no longer be tracked in Internet Explorer.

    Firefox
