How to Use Jerky Chew

As addictive as cigarettes, smokeless or chewing tobacco is one habit that people can find hard to kick. According to the Centers for Disease Control, as many as 20 percent of high school boys use chewing tobacco, thinking it is a safe alternative to smoking. Many who do not feel that way and want to quit turn to alternatives like mint-leaf chew, gum or jerky chew to calm their oral cravings without the harmful nicotine.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove a small amount of jerky chew from its can. Pinch the jerky with your fingers.

    • 2

Place the chew in your mouth between your gums and your cheek. Place the chew next to your upper or lower gums as desired.

    • 3

Move the jerky around your mouth as needed. You can spit the juice that generates inside your mouth or swallow it. Since there is no tobacco in the ingredients, it is safe to do this.

    • 4

Dispose of the jerky chew or chew and swallow the wad. This is strictly your preference.

    • 5

Rinse out your mouth or brush your teeth to remove the taste of the jerky and any excess salt from the dried meat.

Tips & Warnings

  • Similar to tobacco chew, jerky chew comes in a variety of flavors. Change the flavor up a bit to avoid monotony.

  • Some jerky chew has a high salt content, which can irritate your gums and the inside of your cheek.
