How to Kill Hiberfil in Windows XP
If your computer supports power management you can setup your system's hibernation feature. When hibernation is activated then your computer will power off when it not been used for a long period of time. When you turn the computer back on, it reloads the system state at the time of hibernation from a file called hiberfil.sys. You can't kill hiberfil.sys from the Windows Task Manager because it operates as a system process. To kill the hiberfil.sys process you must deactivate hibernation mode and restart your computer.
