How to Look Cute at the Beach

Choose a bathing suit that fits well to look your best.

Relaxing at the beach with family and friends is a common spring and summer pastime. You'll want to make sure you look your best when you're reclining in the sun--with high-quality sunblock--or taking to the waves for a swim or surf. Adding eye-catching accessories to your bathing suit, or carrying some waterproof jewelry and chic sunglasses in your beach bag will keep you in style while you're walking along the sand.

Instructions

1. Purchase the bathing suit you'll wear on your trip to the beach. Select a suit that is right for your body type so you'll feel most comfortable. If you have a petite build, a string bikini is complementary to your body; blue or yellow suits are appropriate for cool skin tones, while bronze and red and make your warm undertones stand out. A one-piece, high-cut bathing suit is the ideal beach outfit for a woman who is pear-shaped, as the cut lengthens the legs.

2. Select a sarong or over-sized shirt made of thin material that complements the colors or patterns of your bathing suit and keeps you covered until you're ready to get in the water. For instance, a hot pink sarong adds exciting color to your black one-piece bathing suit and a shirt that drapes over the shoulder with a palm tree pattern is the perfect accessory to a Kelly green bikini.

3. Choose the sandals you'll stroll the beach with in a similar or contrasting shade to your bathing suit. Tan espadrilles are a pretty complement to a lilac swimsuit; bright yellow flat sandals provide a pop of summertime color to a chocolate brown swimsuit.

4. Try on some sunglasses to decide which ones you'll purchase for your trip to the beach. If you have an oval-shaped face, square lenses with rounded edges will complement you well. Round faces look best with a wide, rectangular sunglass lens, and those with square faces can wear both oval and round lenses.

5. Complete your cute beach look with a few accessories like plastic bangles in fluorescent colors that won't get damaged in the water. Add a waterproof watch in your favorite shade or in a hue that matches your swimsuit or sandals.

6. Pack your beach bag with some extra accessories to keep you looking cool during your time at the beach. A wide-brimmed straw hat rimmed with a ribbon in the color you like best helps shield your face and eyes from the sun. Don't forget to pack sunblock with an SPF of at least 15 in your stylish bag so you can re-apply when necessary to keep your skin protected.
