How to Get Rehired After Being Fired
Getting fired can be a defeating experience. When you sincerely want to work for the company that fired you, the will to get your job back may be stronger than the instinct to keep walking. If this is the case, check your ego at the door, gather some humility, and meet with your former boss to ask for a second chance.

Call your former supervisor and ask to meet at a time convenient for him or her. Before you make the phone call, plan what you're going to say on the phone, and try to anticipate what questions the ex-supervisor might ask you before agreeing to a meeting. Such questions would probably be related to the reason you were fired. You can give a very brief answer, but point out that the answer to that and other questions is what you want to talk about in the meeting. The ex-supervisor will probably want any discussion to be in his or her office.

Acknowledge mistakes. Calmly admit your failures on the job. Acknowledge any problems your former supervisor mentioned at the time you were fired, and apologize for any wrongdoing. Do not offer excuses, just take ownership of your part in mistakes.

Point out your contributions to the company. Remind your former supervisor of the assets you brought to the business and successes in which you played a major part. Mention any strengths and new skills you could provide if rehired.

Offer solutions to previous differences. Where problems existed, offer solutions. After admitting mistakes, explain specifically how you would do things differently if rehired.

Express desire to be rehired. Make it clear you want to be back on the payroll. Explain what it meant to work for the company and your desire to have a second chance.
