How to Draw an Anime Beard

Color the beard with with markers for a smooth finish.

Adding facial hair is a great way to add character to your anime drawing. A large beard will indicate age and strength. A small thin mustache, sneaky or suave, while a ragged beard will make the person look crazy or poor. Remember to keep sharp angles in your beard as this is characteristic of the anime style drawings.

Instructions

1. Draw an anime head including all of the facial features.

2. Draw vertical lines on each side of the head. Start from the middle of the ears and end parallel to the chin. Draw curved lines from the top of the vertical lines to just before the corners of the mouth.

3. Draw two short vertical lines from the end of the curved lines to just before the base of the chin. Connect the two vertical lines with a curved line parallel to the chin.

4. Draw a horizontal line, the same length as, and parallel to, the curved line above the chin. The distance between the curved line and the horizontal line will determine the length of the beard.

5. Connect the ends of the horizontal line to the vertical lines drawn in Step 2 with diagonal lines.

Tips & Warnings

• Shade the beard to add depth and volume.
