How to Draw Ice on Fire

How to Draw Ice on Fire thumbnail
Just because it isn't possible in real life doesn't mean you can't draw it!

Drawing is an activity that takes lots of practice. An advantage that makes the practice worth it is that there is no limit to what can be drawn. Something that is impossible in real life is just as possible to draw as something that is an everyday occurrence. Ice cannot really be on fire in reality, but in a drawing it can exist forever.

Drawing a cube is simple and adds dimension to your square.

Create the ice cube first by drawing a cube. The cube consists of one square and another one exactly like the first diagonally behind it. Connect them with three lines. This will look like a three-dimensional ice cube.

Make the ice cube look wet, like it is melting, by shading parts of the edges with the pencil. Erase highlights out of the the shading with a clean eraser.

Start lightly sketching the fire directly on top of the cube. Use wavy lines going upward from the cube. Connect the lines at the top to make points of the flame. Create many flame shapes along the ice cube.

Echo the flame shape smaller within the flame. Continue until all the original flame shapes have a smaller flame shape inside of them.

Create smoke by drawing lines that start at the tips of each of the flames and go upward in a wavy and swirling motion. Swirl your lines even more at the top. Continue until there is a decent amount of smoke to go with your fire.

This shape would work well for a melting ice cube puddle.

Since the ice is on fire, it will be melting. Create a puddle shape underneath the ice cube. This shape will be wider horizontally. It should be irregular and will look like a flattened blob. You are done with your drawing.
