How to Get Your Store Featured in Lucky Magazine

Getting featured in a magazine can help promote your services.

Lucky is a magazine whose primary audience is female readers. If you have a retail establishment that caters to women's needs, such as a beauty supply store or clothing store, then it would be beneficial for your business to be featured in some way in Lucky magazine. To get featured, you will need to come up with a story that is of interest to female readers but that includes your store. However, this cannot be a blatant advertisement or your pitch will not be accepted by Lucky magazine editors.

Instructions

1. Come up with an idea to pitch to Lucky magazine. Your idea cannot be an advertisement for your store, but rather a feature article where your store can be mentioned. For example, if you run a clothing store for plus sized women, you can pitch an article about how plus sized women can find the perfect bathing suit and then reference your store as a place they can go to get personalized fittings and service in the article once it gets approved by a Lucky magazine editor.

2. Contact Lucky magazine to get information about where you send your pitch. Personnel can change, so be sure to call the magazine at 1-800-777-4058 to get up to date information for the right editor. The example pitch above, for example, would likely go to the Lucky magazine style editor. If possible, get an email address to send your pitch to. The email address format for Lucky magazine staff members will be as follows: [e-mail].

3. Write your pitch. The pitch for your feature article should introduce yourself and include any relevant information that qualifies you to write the feature, such as your education or professional experience running you store. Then, include a few paragraphs about the article you're pitching. Include details that will be included in the article and what, if any, research you will do to complete, such as interviewing your customers. Note that a recommendation to go to your store will mean a lot more coming from a satisfied customer than from you.

4. Send your pitch to the appropriate editor at Lucky magazine via email. Use a subject line in the email that grabs attention but that does not resemble spam or junk mail, such as "Pitch for Fashion Feature on Bathing Suit and Plus Size Women." If the editor likes your pitch, you will then be able to write the article and get your store featured in the magazine.
