How to Transfer Analytics

Transfer Analytics data from your own account to another user.

Google Analytics is a software tool that allows a user to track Web visitors to a website. The user installs a snippet of code on the website, and then Analytics makes a record of any visits to the website by users online. Information will include the geographic region of the visitor, how the user found the site and time spent on the site. An Analytics account gives the user tools to analyze the statistical information that Analytics provides. While there is no direct way to transfer Google Analytics data from one account to another, there is a roundabout -- but wholly legitimate -- way to perform this task.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Analytics account with your user name and password.

    • 2

Give the other user access to your Google Analytics account. Click on the "User Manager" link at the bottom of the page. The user list will appear. Click on the "Add User" link at the top of the user list. The Add User page will appear. Enter the Google mail address of the user you wish to transfer data to in the email field. Select "Account Administrator" under the Access Type pop-up menu. Select whatever Analytics website profiles you want to transfer to the other user from the Available Website Profiles list, and click the "Add" button. The selected profiles will move to the Selected Website Profiles list. Click on "Save Changes."

    • 3

Log out of your Analytics account by clicking the "Sign Out" link at the upper right corner of the page.

    • 4

Log in as the other user with the correct user name and password. Make sure you have permission to do this.

    • 5

Delete your own account from within the other user's account. Click on the "User Manager" link at the bottom of the page. The user list will appear. Click on the "Delete" link next to your own account. Confirm the deletion.

    • 6

Log out of the other user's Analytics account with the "Sign Out" link. You no longer have access to your Analytics data through your account, but the other user can now access it with her account.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use this procedure to consolidate data from multiple Analytics accounts into a single account.

  • Remember, once you have deleted your own account from the user list you no longer have access to the data. Do not delete your account if you will need access to the data in the future.
