Talent agencies will find work for you and negotiate terms of your contract. They will act as an intermediary between you and your employers. Most of the time, you will sign a contract with a talent agency.

1. Review the contract you signed with the agency for a termination clause. Some have specific sections on how you can cancel the contract.

2. Research laws in your state or county. Some jurisdictions have laws that allow you to legally terminate your talent contract within a set number of days after signing the document.

3. Talk to your talent agency. Reputable talent agencies will work to keep clients happy and may agree to cancel your contract.

4. Find out if your agent is referred to as an "agent" or "manager" in the contract. Legally, managers are not allowed to negotiate work for an artist. If the talent agency refers to their employees as managers, the entire document will not be valid.

5. Contact the organization in your state responsible for licensing talent agencies. You can find specific licensing requirements at the Association of Talent Agent's website. Talent agencies must be licensed, and if you signed a contract with an unlicensed talent agency, you will be able to break your contact and the agency will not be able to sue you.
