How to Angle a Garden Tractor Plow

The angle of a garden plow is easy to adjust.

Knowing the right way to adjust the angle of a garden plow saves you time and increases the benefits of plowing. In the garden, plowing increases aeration of the soil, improves drainage, and reduces weeds. Most single-blade, garden- tractor plows have a simple apparatus on top of the plow that allows adjustment by hand. Increasing the angle of the plow makes the furrow deeper. Decreasing the angle of your garden plow restricts the soil disturbance to the surface.

Things You'll Need

• Metal lubricant
• Pliers

Instructions

1. Lubricate the threads of the angle adjustment bar or crank on top of your plow.

2. Attach the plow to your garden tractor.

3. Raise the plow off the ground.

4. Grip the threaded adjustment bar with pliers, and turn it back and forth a few times to loosen the crank.

5. Turn the crank at the top of your moldboard plow to adjust the angle.

6. Lower the plow to the ground. Check the angle to make sure it is adjusted as far as you want.

Tips & Warnings

• If your plow does not have an angle adjustment crank, you may be able to adjust the angle by how the plow is attached to your tractor.
