How to Draw a Guitar With Wings
Music can take us to a different place. When we listen to music it can feel like we are floating on air, and playing a musical instrument can make us feel like we're flying. To convey this feeling with art, sketch a guitar with wings. It can be an acoustic or electric guitar. It can even be a four-string bass with a longer neck. Choose whatever type of guitar you wish to express your strings-with-wings theme.

1
Observe a picture of a guitar or an actual guitar. Study the lines of the strings and the fret work. Study a picture of a bird in flight with wings spread at full span.
-
2
Draw two conjoined circles for the body of the guitar. Sketch in the area where these circles are joined to give the body definition. Draw two straight parallel lines extending outward from the upper circle for the neck. Draw a small square or rectangle at the top of these two lines to form the headstock.
-
-
3
Draw the tuning pegs on the left and right sides of the headstock. Draw three on each side for a standard six-string guitar. Draw two on each side for a bass guitar. Draw six on each side for a 12-string guitar.
-
4
Draw a series of equally spaced, straight lines horizontally up and down the neck. Chose between 18 and 22 to make up the frets. Draw a small circle in the middle of the body where the two larger conjoined circles overlap. Omit this circle for an electric guitar. Draw a small horizontal line below this circle for the string saddle.
-
5
Draw a series of four, six or 12 lines extending from the saddle, across the neck and connecting to the tuning pegs.
-
6
Draw two large extended wings on either side of the base of the guitar's neck. Draw in the individual feathers, or just a few to create a more feathered look. Draw in any additional ornamental detail to the guitar. Draw in small sound control knobs for an electric instrument. Blend in or erase any unwanted lines.
