How to Find Out When an IDOC Warrant Was Issued
The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) may issue arrest warrants for people who have already been to state prison. The reason for the warrant may vary. Reasons include breaking the terms of parole, not registering as a sex offender in the community in which you live or escaping from prison. The IDOC keeps a computer database on all current and former inmates that is updated daily. It is shared throughout the prison system and some of the information is shared with the public, including warrant information.

1
Collect information about the person who has had a warrant issued by IDOC. It is beneficial to get the person's IDOC number, as opposed to his name or birthdate. Many inmates may share a last name and birthdate, but the IDOC number is specific.
-
2
Visit the IDOC website and find the inmate search page. Highlight the search option in the upper right-hand corner of the page -- last name, IDOC number or birthdate. Enter the information specific to the person in question and click "Search."
-
-
3
Highlight the name of the person in question out of the search results. Click "Query a Highlighted Inmate." Look into the query to see if IDOC has ever issued a warrant and on what date.
