How to Hang Shades on Balconies
Installing a shade outside on your balcony will provide relief from the sun and additional privacy when you need it. You can use the underside of the balcony above you to mount your shade. To hang shades on balconies, you will likely have to install the brackets into concrete. This is not overly difficult. Use a bamboo roll-up shade or blind, because the wood resists weather and the shade will last longer than many fabric or plastic blinds. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Place the head rail against the underside of the balcony above you and position it on the front edge, just above the guardrail on your balcony. Center the blind left to right and then mark the ends of the blind onto the concrete with a pencil.
-
2
Place the mounting brackets against the end marks you made and then mark through each mounting hole onto the concrete. Place the brackets off to the side for now.

3
Put a masonry bit into your hand drill that measures large enough to accommodate your masonry wall anchors. Drill each of the mounting hole locations deep enough to fit the entire wall anchor.
-
4
Fill the holes with silicone caulk and then drive the masonry wall anchors into the holes. The caulk prevents moisture from getting into the drilled concrete.
-
5
Attach the brackets by screwing them into the anchors using the supplied screws and a screwdriver.
-
6
Place the headrail of the blind against the brackets and then snap the headrail into place.
