How to Send a Facebook Message From Kindle

The Kindle is designed to be primarily an electronic reader, but in newer generations, such as the Kindle 2, Kindle DX and the Kindle 3, the device can now do much more than display books. Using a series of already installed bookmarks, Kindle users can navigate to Facebook and can use most of the site's functions, including messaging.

Instructions

1. Slide the Kindle "On/Off" switch to the right. Release the switch when a green light appears, indicating the device is on. The Kindle Home screen will load.

2. Click "Menu." A pop-up menu will appear on the right side of the screen. Click down on the five-way directional controller until "Experimental" is underlined. Click the middle of the five-way directional controller. A new Experimental page will appear.

3. Click the "Launch Browser" option, directly across from "Web Browser." Click "Menu." A pop-up menu will appear on the right side of the screen.

4. Click down on the five-way directional controller until "Bookmarks" is underlined. Click the middle of the five-way directional controller. A new page of bookmarked websites will appear.

5. Click down on the five-way directional controller until "Facebook" is underlined. Click the middle of the controller to load the Facebook website.

6. Click the five-way directional pad to the right to land on the "Email" field. Enter your email address using the Kindle keyboard.

7. Adjust the five-way directional pad to the right once to land on the "Password" field. Enter your Facebook password using the Kindle keyboard.

8. Click the five-way directional controller one time to the right to land on "Login." Click the center of the pad to log in to Facebook.

9. Adjust the five-way directional controller to the left until the "Messages" link (directly underneath your profile image) is underlined. Press the center of the directional pad.

10. Click the five-way directional pad to the right until the cursor lands on "New Message." Click the center of the pad to select to send a new message. A small pop-up window will appear and your Kindle cursor will appear on the "To" area of the message field. Type the name of the person to whom you wish to send the Facebook message into the "To" field.

11. Click down once on the five-way directional pad to land on the "Subject" field. Type in a subject if you wish, or leave the area blank.

12. Click down once on the five-way directional pad to arrive on the message field. Type the message that you wish to send.

13. Click down once, then several times to the right, on the five-way directional pad until your Kindle cursor lands on "Send." Click "Send" to send the message to the indicated recipient.
