How to Draw a Pharmacist

How to Draw a Pharmacist thumbnail
With their familiar wardrobes and environments, pharmacists are easy to draw.

Pharmacists are medical professionals who fill prescriptions, and whether they work in a hospital, medical center or retail pharmacy, their wardrobe and surroundings generally remain the same. Because of their reliable appearance, pharmacists are relatively easy to draw -- you don't have to do much guesswork regarding what a pharmacist is doing or wearing. The easiest way to draw one is to start by drawing a normal person, then dressing that person in the trappings of a typical pharmacist and giving him or her the accessories one would have.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a person performing a pharmacy-related task. This may include any of the job duties typical of a pharmacist, like filling a bottle of pills, talking to a customer, mixing a bottle of liquid medicine or inspecting a pill bottle. While pharmacists also do other things, like consult with doctors or type up prescription labels, drawing somebody doing these things makes their occupation less readily apparent than if they were doing something more conspicuous.

Outfit your character in the dress of a pharmacist. For men, this includes a shirt and tie, while women may wear a simple blouse. In either case, draw a lab coat on your character -- this helps identify him or her as a pharmacist. You may even accessorize the lab coat with a name badge over the left chest pocket.

Draw a background environment around your character -- if there was any doubt left that your character is a pharmacist, placing them in the appropriate environment makes his or her profession clear. A typical pharmacy is a room filled with shelves, each of which is stocked with various bottles of pills and liquid medication. Surround your character with these stocked shelves so he or she looks right at home -- you may even add a counter where your pharmacist can stand and talk to customers, or a sign that reads, "Pharmacy".
