How to Write a Psychology Practical Report

How to Write a Psychology Practical Report thumbnail
Psychology students will likely have to write a report eventually.

A psychology practical report is basically written to explain the content of some psychological research or experiment that you had completed or a previous study or experiment that you have analyzed. The report should cover some basic information within predetermined sections. However, the majority of the information you include in the psychology practical report will be determined by the subject matter and type of research, experimentation or analysis that you completed.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare a title page for your psychology practical report. Title the report to define clearly what the subject matter is, such as: "The Psychological Affects of Alzheimer's on Caregivers." Also, include your name and the course for which you are writing the report.

    • 2

Type an abstract for your report. The abstract is a paragraph that explains the purpose of the report and gives a brief background about your subject and research, experiment or analysis.

    • 3

Write the introduction. The introduction, which goes into greater depth than the abstract, discusses your purpose and subject and includes your hypothesis --- namely, what you are attempting to prove or discover. Discuss briefly how you approached the research, experiment or analysis.

    • 4

Add a methods section, which includes the materials and techniques you used to complete the psychological research, experiment or analysis.

    • 5

Include the results of your research, experiment or analysis --- demonstrating what you discovered or learned. Incorporate graphs, tables and charts to display your results visually.

    • 6

Add a discussion section. This is where you talk about whether or not the results proved your hypothesis, disproved your hypothesis or if your report requires further research.

    • 7

List references you used to complete the psychology practical report in a references section.
