How to Post on Your Wall on Facebook

Facebook is a great way to not only keep up with what your friends and family are doing, but also allows you a way to let them know what you are doing or thinking as well. This exchange of information is done through a process commonly referred to as "posting on your wall." Although the wall is actually your profile page, Facebook allows members to make "status updates," which are comments made by you that post on your profile page and appear in recent status updates when members check their homepage.
Step 1
Choose the type of post you want to put on your wall. You can post a status update, link, video or photo.
Step 2
Type your status update into the "What's on your mind?" box at the top of the page. If you do not wish to add a link, video or photo, click on the blue "Share" button below the block to update your status and post on your wall.
Step 3
Click the blue "Link," "Video" or "Photo" above your status update box if you wish to add one of these as an update. Fill in the box that pops up with the appropriate link, video or photo that you wish to add to your wall. Click on the "Attach" button. Add a comment to the status update box (or leave empty) and click "Share."

Tips
- You can choose who is allowed to see your updates by clicking on the gray lock button beneath the status update block. Choose "Everyone," "Friends Only", "Friends of Friends" or "Customize." Customize will allow you to choose exactly who is allowed to see your update, as well as hide the update from certain people if you wish to exclude them from viewing.
- You may also post on your wall by using the Facebook application on your mobile phone. Although you cannot add videos or links (as of March 2011), you can instantly take and add a photo, or select one from your photo library to include in your status update.
