How to Save Watermelon
There's nothing like biting into the crisp, juicy, red flesh of a watermelon on a hot summer day. Protected by its hard green rind, true to its name, watermelon is 92 percent water, making it an ideal thirst quencher. Although watermelon is mainly sliced and enjoyed straight, you can add watermelon to green salads, fruit salads, and even grill watermelon slices, enhancing the flavor. Store whole watermelon at room temperature for up to two weeks.

Wrap cut watermelon tightly in plastic wrap or an airtight container, then place in the refrigerator. Cut watermelon can last three to four days in the refrigerator.

Store watermelon pieces in strong freezer bags, then place them in the freezer for prolonged storage. Frozen watermelon can last for years.

Tips & Warnings
When selecting watermelon, check that their are no bruises or dents, and that the fruit is sufficiently heavy for its size. This indicates a good amount of water inside of the watermelon.
