How to Build Stuff for "The Sims 2: Apartment Life"
"The Sims 2: Apartment Life" is an expansion pack to the popular life simulator series that introduces the concept of apartment living to the franchise. In this expansion pack, Sims are allowed to move into apartment buildings occupied with other Sims, but they cannot place objects or decorate outside of their apartment limits, nor can they alter the floor plan of their apartments. However, by using cheat codes, you not only can get around these limitations but you can actually build your own apartment buildings.

Enter into a lot that you don't mind losing. This can be an empty lot, a residential lot, apartment building, or community lot. You will need to change the lot type, which will alter the lot, so do not use this code on a lot you want for other purposes.

Press Ctrl, Shift, and the letter C to bring up the cheat command console.

Type "changelotzoning apartmentbase" without the quotations to change the lot into an apartment lot. This step is not necessary if the lot was already an apartment building.

Enter the code "boolProp aptBaseLotSpecificToolsDisabled false" to have access to building tools while on an apartment lot. Using this code on a lot you set to an apartment lot will allow you to build and design a new apartment building. Use the build tools to create walls, floors, windows, and plumbing. Each apartment must have a front door to allow a Sim to move in.

Enter the code "boolprop aptsublotspecifictoolsdisabled false" if you are already playing on an apartment lot and want to build within your Sim's apartment, create an expansion to the apartment, or place bought items outside the border of the Sim's apartment.

Type in the code "clearLotClassValue" if you want to change a converted apartment lot back to its original type.
