How to Use a Mac to Chat on Yahoo!
Apple's iChat may be the most obvious choice for chatting on a Mac, but that doesn't mean you can't use other VoIP and instant messaging applications, such as Yahoo! Chat. You can access Yahoo! Chat online from any computer, Mac or PC, but the Yahoo! Chat desktop client is also available for Mac OS X.

Navigate to Yahoo.com and download a free copy of Yahoo! Messenger for Mac.

Double-click the disk image to open and then drag the Yahoo! Messenger icon and drop it into your "Applications" folder to install.

Navigate to your "Applications" folder using the short cut menu in the left column of your Finder and double-click the Yahoo! Messenger icon to open the application.

Type your Yahoo! ID and password into the fields and click the "Sign In" button. If you don't have a Yahoo! ID, click the "Create Yahoo ID" button and follow the steps to create a free account.

Click the "+" icon in the bottom-left corner to add a new contact. Double-click a contact's name to open a chat window.
